Let members choose what they receive
How members opt out of SMS or email, and how to make sure a message you send respects their choice.
- Who can do this
- Members manage their own preferences; senders choose whether to respect them.
Members should only get messages they’re happy to receive. ChurchVex keeps track of each member’s choices.
Members set their own preferences
A member with a ChurchVex sign-in goes to Communications → My Preferences and chooses:
- Channels — whether they receive SMS and Email.
- Message types — for example Event Reminders, Birthday Wishes, Announcement Alerts and Absence Alerts.
Then they choose Save Changes.
Respect those choices when you send
On Communications → Send, keep Respect opt-out preferences switched on. Members who have opted out of that channel are skipped.
Automatic messages are off by default
The weekly schedule SMS and dues reminders are sent only after your church turns them on in Communications → Settings.
Your church is responsible for having members’ permission to contact them. If a member asks you to stop, update their preferences or remove their phone number straight away.
